You pride yourself in taking care of your child's oral health. You make sure your child eats well, brushes his or her teeth and visits the dentist. But do you have to deny your child all sweets? The following peanut butter chocolate bar recipe is both sweet and tooth-friendly.
Secrets Behind The Peanut Butter Chocolate Bar
The first tooth-friendly ingredient to take notice of is sea salt. Sea salt happens to have a positive pH value. This is important because oral bacteria cannot flourish or cause dental damage in a pH balanced environment.
The other ingredient that you should pay attention to is the raw honey you will be using. Raw honey is helpful because it contains anti-bacterial enzymes, and it is also osmotic. The osmotic nature of honey should dehydrate and kill the oral pathogens in your child's mouth.
You will also need raw or dark chocolate for this recipe. Believe it or not, raw or dark chocolate contains several traces of the cacao husk. Researchers found that the husk of the cacao bean contains CBH. CBH is an active ingredient that disrupts the reproduction of harmful bacteria in your mouth.
Remember these ingredients are only meant to help keep your child's teeth healthy. If your child does have an issue, it is best taken care of by your dentist.
The Peanut Butter Chocolate Bar Recipe
To make your peanut butter chocolate bar, you will need the following:
- ¼ of a cup of raw chocolate powder or dark chocolate nibs
- 3 tablespoons of sugarless peanut butter or your favorite type of nut or seed butter
- 1 tablespoon of raw honey (you can taste the mixture once you've blended it, and add more honey if you want it sweeter)
- 1 teaspoon of sea salt
- Candy bar mold
You can follow the steps below to make your chocolate bar:
- Heat up the chocolate in your microwave for about 1 minute. Make sure the nibs or powder is melted enough to handle.
- Add the rest of the ingredients, and blend well. Taste the mixture to make sure it is to your liking; you can alter it to your liking at this point by adding more honey or peanut butter.
- Place the mixture in your candy mold, and freeze it for at least 20 minutes. Take it out and enjoy.
